When boutique owners Rana Shoar and Alejandra Hernandez opened their doors to Virgo nearly 3 years ago in Los Angeles Fashion District, they changed the way style doyennes shopped in downtown's production apparel area.
With a background in fashion styling and buying, it was natural the best friends would partner-up and embark on their own business ventures. Their original motivation was to start an accessories line, "Boos and Besitos" – a moniker paying homage to their Persian and Latin heritage.
It was only a short time after the two decided to expand into another operation, a retail store that translated their affinity for vintage. Rana and Alejandra conceptualized a space that embraced their dichotomous style, tapping into L.A. culture and presenting a travelogue of vintage inspirations that represent different eras.
While Rana and Alejandra carry a strong value to professionalism, Virgo philosophy places an emphasis on fun - it is okay to mix and match prints or motifs, valorize both masculinity and femininity, dress up or dress down, wear a structured blouse with over-sized pants, or an ornate piece with a sportswear silhouette.
Today, Virgo continues to grow, creating garments that make lasting statements and head-turning nods, striking the perfect balance of vintage, contemporary and avant-garde.
